Having an existing ensuite bathroom was much appreciated by my client. But, having one that was small and dark, with an awkward shower layout, just wasn’t working any more. “Help me make this bathroom as big as we can and in my style,” was her request. I suggested stealing a few feet of space from the adjacent laundry room, which gave us the ability to create a large walk-in shower, with a generous size product niche, a chic style rain showerhead, but most importantly, room to move.

The next step was a makeover in my client’s esthetic: modern with natural touches. We installed a custom floating vanity the client designed herself, and had it fabricated from beautiful multi-tone grain planks of wood, then topped it with an integrated sink and contemporary countertop. We selected a hand-made interlocking patterned floor tile in peacock blue, which gave the bathroom not only her desired pop of color, but an unexpected factor. A long narrow white tile was installed horizontally from floor to ceiling and wall-to-wall to give the space dramatic boldness. Along with these touches, we added polished chrome accents for a more reflective light quality to warm up the space even on cool foggy San Francisco mornings.
